In the deepest secrecy, Hero Jan works on a jenever that knows the best of the past and now. Hooghoudt Jonge Dubbel Graanjenever comes onto the market in 1968 and causes a landslide. The base is pure grain instead of molasses. A unique move. The jenever distinguishes itself, also by double distillation of the juniper, on softness and taste.
Flavor development
Hero Jan junior describes the idea behind the double grain jenever as follows: 'In the Netherlands there is a clear taste development towards mild jenever. That is why there is now Graanjenever and Double Graanjenever. Double means, double distilled so that the taste is even purer. Moreover, the leading and trailing are removed even more precisely to get rid of the last impurities.'
